orgjunkiempr3 I am so sorry I have been negligent in updating this blog.  For nearly a year I have been consistent, never missing a day.  That is until we decided to move AND adopt a baby at the same time.

Hopefully the move will come first so we are in the painful process of packing and to be honest my mind has been focused on boxes, checklists, paint swatches and maintaining some shred of sanity.  I have, however, been cooking.  My step daughter arrived a little over two weeks ago and amongst the chaos I have managed to place a home cooked meal on the table nearly every night.  To my surprise she has loved every one of them…she is 9 months pregnant so I am not sure if that is a true indication of how tasty they really were.  When I was pregnant anything that stopped breathing for any length of time was fair game to snack on.

I did overhear her telling her mom “I can’t believe that Niki cooks everything from scratch and it’s actually good” guess the whole scratch thing is a little foreign to her because her in depth explanation covered the most basic scratch cooking tip of making homemade pizza crust.  She went on to tell her how I make my own bread, spaghetti sauce and all baked goods.  I guess filling her in on the likes of sourdough bread and homemade yogurt may set her off the edge.

    On to this weeks menu:

Monday – baked spaghetti from the freezer

Tuesday – crock pot Cornish hens

    Wednesday – taco soup

Thursday – potato soup topped with sour cream and crushed taco chips

Friday – take out pizza, the whole crew is coming over to strip WALLPAPER allowing my painter to start slapping on some coats of paint.  I am aiming for the upstairs to be completed before Monday allowing plenty of time to air the place out before the rest of the family sleeps there.

    Saturday – baked oatmeal

Sunday – shepards pie with skillet corn…that is if I can locate my cast iron pan, at this point it’s not looking good.

    *WARNING* basket eye candy ahead…..

    IMG_2487_1

I love how Michelle spiffied up her baskets with scrapbook tags and rub-ons.  Makes me want to actually buy more than one lip gloss to create a basket of it’s very own.  My one and only chapstick is getting a little lonely

Now this is taking organizing to a new level by printing off the name of the basket’s owner on the front….ooohs and ahhhhs were all I could muster up when I came across this one by Every good and perfect gift.

This post full of fancy baskets gave me chills, seriously that is some serious, colour co-ordinating organizing going on in that house.

Check Buzzings of a queen bee’s site  for a full montage of basket goodies.  Her motto must be “one can never have too many baskets” and she probably does not mean laundry baskets, unlike my motto lately

Who doesn’t love a well stocked dollarstore for some frugal organizing?  I know this gal does.
